Thank you.
When he was only 2 years old, Bobby was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Since then, he has undergone four transplant surgeries, and as a result of medication, he developed diabetes. Now his lungs are no longer functioning properly, and doctors say a double-lung transplant is critical for his survival. He is beginning evaluations to be added to the transplant waiting list.
Bobby's family wants nothing more than to see him healthy. It has been especially hard for his mother, who was his living kidney donor, to watch him suffer.
Although he has faced many challenges, Bobby never lets his condition stop him from pursuing his dreams. He received a college degree in communications, traveled, and enjoyed playing sports and being involved in horse racing. He is an avid Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, and he longs to have the energy to enjoy his favorite activities again. Most of all, Bobby is excited to return to coaching little league soccer, but he needs your help.
A double-lung transplant costs approximately $650,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health coverage, Bobby faces considerable medical expenses related to his transplant. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as essential as the transplant itself.
Before Bobby can be added to the transplant waiting list, his hospital requires a $25,000 deposit. He and his father have relocated 850 miles to be closer to his transplant center for medical appointments, surgery and post-transplant care, incurring substantial expenses for travel and lodging. His condition does not allow him to work, adding to his financial strain. You can help.Patient Health Institute: Duke University Medical Center
